If shaping your own eyebrows, how do you ensure you get them looking even??

I usually get a professional wax every few months and just tidy up in between by plucking out the strays as they appear.If shaping your own eyebrows, how do you ensure you get them looking even??
Maybe it sounds silly but this is what i do when I want to shape my own eyebrows. Stand in front of a mirror and have a red lip liner draw the shape of your desired eyebrow and try to make it even. When you're done, you can start plucking(shaving, waxing...) your eyebrows outside the drawn line.
